REGULATIONS
Granfondo SAN REMO-SAN REMO La Classicissima

Art. 1 – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The GRANFONDO SAN REMO-SAN REMO is open to:

  • all Italian cyclists in compliance with a license from ACSI, FCI, Bike Card and the organizations for the promotion of sport that are recognized by ACSI.
  • All foreign cyclists in compliance with a license recognized by the UCI.
  • All cyclists without a licence, can buy an ACSI day licence on the website of the event upon presenting a competitive sports medical certificate for cycling.

Cyclists who are entered in the Master Gold category (according to the FCI list) are not admitted to the event.

Professionals, Elite competitors (men and women) and those who are under 23 are admitted exclusively for promotional purposes and will not be able to participate in any way in the rankings.

Art. 2 – LICENSE/ SPORTS MEMBERSHIP CARD

The possession of a valid membership card is an obligatory requisite.

For athletes registered in Italy, licenses issued by ACSI, FCI and by the sports promotion bodies recognized by ACSI, as well as the Bike Card are recognized.

For athletes registered abroad the only licences that are recognized are those issued by federations affiliated with UCI.

All athletes must forward a scan of their currently valid sport licence to the registration secretariat, exclusively via the form available on our online registration system.

Art. 2a – DAY MEMBERSHIP CARD

Italian and foreign cyclists who are not in possession of a membership card or license issued by one of the organizations indicated above must purchase a license/day membership card issued by  ACSI.

The day membership card must be purchased at the moment of registration through our online registrations system.

It is obligatory to forward a scan of your medical certificate for competitive sports (issued not more than 6 months before the event) to the registrations secretariat via the online form available on our online registration system by 31 January.

It is obligatory to show the original copy of your competitive sports medical certificate on the day before the race. If this requirement is not satisfied it will not be possible in any way to take part in the race.

Art. 3 – REGISTRATION

Registration for the event must be carried out through the website.

For organizational reasons no other form of registration is permitted.

Direct registration is possible on the Saturday before the day of the race at the time indicated in the Summary.

Art. 4 – DEADLINES FOR REGISTRATION

The deadline for online registrations is on the Wednesday before the day of the event.

The deadline for the purchase of the ACSI day membership card is on the Wednesday before the day of the event.

Direct registrations on the spot are allowed on the Saturday preceding the event at the time indicated in the Summary.

Art. 5 – COST OF PARTICIPATION

BASIC ENTRY

The basic enrolment fee is

  • € 45 for registrations made online by 31/12
  • € 47,50 for registrations made online by 10/02
  • € 55 for registrations made online by 28/02
  • € 60 for registrations made online by 18/03
  • € 65 for on-site registrations, on the day before the race

GOLD ENTRY

The cost of GOLD entry, with souvenir jersey included and first grid:

  • € 80 on 31/12
  • € 82,50 to 10/02
  • Premium entry deadline: 10/02

Secretarial expenses: 2 €

Administrative charges for online registration: 6%

The forms of payment that will be accepted are:

  • Visa or Mastercard credit card
  • Bank transfer, available only up to 28 February

The above rates are net, bank charges are to be considered entirely the responsibility of the customer.

  • € 10 for bank transfers from outside the EU

Art. 6 – GOODS AND SERVICES COVERED BY THE REGISTRATION FEE

The cost of registration includes:

  • competition number,
  • refreshments,
  • gifts,
  • recovery in case of abandonment of the race,
  • pasta party (at the Event Village)

The race pack described in the regulations is only guaranteed for the first 700 who register. The organization will do its best for those who register at the last minute, but they can’t guarantee that products will be available.

Art. 7 – AGE LIMITS

The event is open to all cyclists, both men and women, from 18 to 75 years of age, as of the day before the race, in compliance with membership for the current year.

Art. 8 – REGULATIONS

By signing the registration form, you declare that you have read and approved these regulations, that you are in good physical condition, and that you are either in possession of a card intended for participation in competitive sports issued after attending a medical appointment conducted by a sports physician, or that you are in possession of a competitive sports medical certificate in compliance with registration for a day membership card.

Art. 9 – CANCELLATION OF PARTICIPATION

The registration fee is strictly personal and it is in no case reimbursable whether it is used or not.

Reimbursement is not allowed in case you miss the race, nor are substitutions of another athlete allowed.

Art. 10 – RANKINGS

With regard to rankings, the following categories apply:

  • JUNIOR MEN 18/29 years
  • SENIOR 1 30/34 years
  • SENIOR 2 35/39 years
  • VETERANS 1 40/44 years
  • VETERANS 2 45/49 years
  • GENTLEMEN 1 50/54 years
  • GENTLEMEN 2 55/59 years
  • Super G/A 60/64 years
  • Super G/B 65 years and over
  • WOMEN A 18/39 years
  • WOMEN B 40 years and over

Art. 11 – VERIFICATION

Verification of licenses, distribution of race numbers and the materials supplied will take place at the Event Village situated in: VILLA ORMOND Corso Cavallotti 113 – San Remo, at the following times:

  • Saturday 22 March, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday 23 March, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Failure to have the relevant membership card checked at the time of registration, or failure to submit the medical certificate for competitive sports required for registration with a day card, will result in automatic exclusion from the event.

Everyone who has registered should go to the Race Bib Collection Desk to find their race bib number and to consult the start list.

Art. 12 – MEETING

The meeting is set for Sunday 23 March at 9:00 a.m. in Lungomare Salvo d’Acquisto – San Remo, where electronic checking of the participants will take place.

Art. 13 – START

The start is set for 10:00 a.m. at Lungomare Salvo d’Acquisto – San Remo

Art. 13a – STARTING GRIDS

The following starting grids are planned

1st grid Merit grid The following are entered in the merit grid:
– athletes classified in the first 50 of the last two editions of the race
– athletes classified in the first 50 of the Italian ACSI championship
– women athletes, regardless of the bib number assigned
– the wild cards that have been assigned by the organization. The request to be admitted to the merit grid, accompanied by curriculum must be sent strictly and not later than 31 January. In no case will it be possible to request assignment to the merit grid after 31 January.
2nd grid Grid reserved for circuit cyclists who have membership of the race and to tour operators who are partners of the organization

The membership circuits will be decided by the organization and communicated on the official website as a rule by the end of September.

Tour operators who wish to take part in the race must contact the organizing secretariat by 30 September of the previous year.

3rd/4th grids Grids reserved for those who register online The bib number is assigned in chronological order of registration starting from January when the individual has demonstrated that they are in compliance with the documents requested (license or medical-sports license for those who purchase the day license)
Last grid Grid reserved for those who register on the spot The race bib will be assigned on the spot according to availability.

Art. 14 – ELECTRONIC CONTROLS

There will be an electronic control from the start to the finish of the race. Participants who do not take part in the control of the Start will be automatically excluded from the rankings.

Electronic controls are provided on the climbs of the course.

Art. 15 – TIMING: WINNING TIME REGULATION CHIP

The timing service will be provided by Winning Time. Every athlete must be supplied with their own Yellow Winning Time Personal Chip in order to be listed in the table of final times and receive the certificate of participation.

The owners of Yellow Winning Time Personal Chips ARE OBLIGED TO enable them from 1 January on the www.winningtime.it website in the manner indicated, or else at the race at the WINNING TIME STAND.

Athletes not already in possession of chips may purchase them directly for the price of 15 euros directly from the WINNING TIME STAND in the area where race packages are being distributed.

Athletes can also rent a daily chip valid EXCLUSIVELY for the event upon payment of a deposit of 10 euros (with refund of 5 euros upon return of the chip). The yellow chips and those that have been rented must be placed on the release of the front wheel; incorrect placement will not guarantee accurate inclusion in the table of final times.

Art. 16 – HELMET

It is mandatory to use and wear an approved rigid helmet even on the climbs: whoever is caught without a helmet will be automatically excluded from the final rankings.

Art. 17 – ACCOMPANYING VEHICLES

It is not permitted for accompanying vehicles to follow the participants; this will result in disqualification of the athlete in question.

Art. 18 – ROAD TRAFFIC

All the roads on the course of the event are OPEN to traffic.
It is obligatory to respect and comply with the Highway Code.

Art. 19 – RECOVERY VAN

A van will be provided for the recovery of participants who abandon the race, along with their bicycles.

Art. 20 – ARRIVAL

The arrival will take place in Poggio of San Remo between 12:30 am -1:30 pm; those who arrive after this time will not be entered in the rankings.

Art. 21 – ORDER OF ARRIVAL

After crossing the finish line, participants must go to the control post to return the Chip.

Art. 22 – RANKING

A link to the rankings will be displayed on the official Internet site.

You will be able to print your Diploma of Participation from the official timing service website.

Art. 23 – COMPLAINTS

Any complaints must be addressed to the race jury according to the terms of the regulations and accompanied by the prescribed fees set down in the regulations. Collective reports or complaints, signed by more than one person, will not be accepted.

Art. 24 – PRIZE-GIVING

The following will be awarded prizes:

  • the first 3 competitors of the overall rankings
  • the first 3 competitors in every category
  • the club with the most number of participants

Awarding of prizes will take place at the Event Village at 3:30 pm. 

The prizes will be distributed to the competitors present at the prize-giving ceremony.

PRIZES WILL NOT BE HANDED OVER TO THIRD PARTIES, BUT ONLY TO THE WINNERS THEMSELVES

Special prizes may be awarded.

The top three finishers of the men’s and women’s rankings participate in the category awards, but the category prizes cannot be combined with the overall ranking awards.


Art. 25 – DISQUALIFICATION

The following types of behaviour will result in disqualification of the competitor:

  • participating with the race number of a different lane
  • throwing rubbish along the course
  • not observing the Highway Code

Art. 26 – ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

By signing the online registration form, the competitor declares himself/herself to be in possession of a medical certificate in accordance with the D.M. of 18/02/82, to be in possession of a valid membership card, to hold third party insurance, and to have read and accepted these regulations.

Art. 26a – PRIVACY

By signing the online registration form, the participant gives his consent, in compliance with current legislation, to the processing of his personal data for the purposes of the management of the registration and services connected to it such as the official photography service, the timing, the rankings, as well as the occasional communication of news related to the event, the area where it is being held, and other similar events.

By purchasing the ACSI day membership card the participant gives his consent, in compliance with current legislation, to the processing of his “particular and sensitive” personal data, in particular in relation to the obligation to transmit his competitive sports medical certificate to the organization.

Personal data will be processed according to the regulations in force by the organizing company, by ACSI, by the company that follows the registration office, by the company following the timing and ranking service, and by the official photographers of the event.

Art. 26 b – IMAGE RIGHTS

By registering for the event the athlete expressly authorizes the organization, together with sponsors and media partners, to acquire the right to use still or moving images in which they may appear, in all media, including promotional material and/or advertising, throughout the world and for the maximum time required by law, by the regulations and treaties in force, including any extension that may be made to the expected period.

Art. 27 – CHANGES TO THE REGULATIONS

The organization reserves the right to make changes in the regulations. The www.classicissima.it website will be considered the official organ of the event. All official communications will be made via the website.

Art. 28 – RESPONSIBILITY

The Promotor declines any responsibility for any accident or damages that may affect participants or third parties, or things that happen before, during or after the holding of the event, and it reserves the right to accept registrations at its sole discretion.

Art. 29 – HIGHWAY CODE

Every participant is considered to be on a personal excursion: it is obligatory to comply with the provisions of the Highway Code and traffic rules. The road will not be protected.

Art. 30 – FORCE MAJEURE

If the race is cancelled because of force majeure, for example in the case of a heavy rain alert resulting from adverse weather conditions, the registration fee will not be reimbursed.
