In an event like the Granfondo San Remo–San Remo “La Classicissima” the safety aspect of the participants must always be the top priority.
For this reason the organization, after receiving authorization from the Prefecture of Imperia, has had to change the route that was originally set out. Because of the bad weather that affected the western part of Liguria last week, together with weather alert messages reaching us, a few small landslides have in fact been observed on the roads of the inland region.
Therefore a change has had to be made that will also involve the joining of the two routes (the medium of 80 km and the longer one of 110 km) that will now have a single distance of about 100 km in total. The change will affect the section following Bajardo, where the cyclists, instead of going down via the Valle Argentina through Vignai, will head first to Ceriana and then to the Poggio to immediately reach the coast. At this point the Granfondo will proceed in an easterly direction, following the successive stages of the original program.
Meanwhile we are extremely pleased at the great number of athletes who have already registered; the figure has currently risen to 700, thus even surpassing the predictions made for the eve of the race. However you will still be able to register directly on 17th March, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the desk that will be set up at the Palafiori in Corso Garibaldi in San Remo.
